April 17, 2004—Consumer packaged goods company Procter & Gamble spends between $50 million and $100 million per year reprocessing orders based on inaccurate shipment information, and RFID could help lower that number. Market research firm IDC predicts RFID spending — on hardware, software and services — for the U.S. retail supply chain will grow from $91.5 million in 2003 to nearly $1.3 billion in 2008.
